Marc’s Bio:

As Chicago’s premier legal negotiator, Marc Siegel bridges the gap between management and plaintiff sides as an employment law insider. He also regularly teaches lawyers and law students the art of negotiation.

Marc is known for his ability to resolve disputes by winning the other side over, even when the negotiable seems non-negotiable. He honed this ability throughout his 20+ years working in employment law, as well as pursuing further training from Harvard, Pepperdine and the American Arbitration Association.

In his career, Marc has seen workplace issues from every perspective. This includes serving as an employee advocate, employer advocate, mediator and arbitrator.

Employment issues Marc has litigated include wage and hour, race/gender/age/national origin discrimination, FMLA, ADA, whistleblower, ERISA disputes, breach of contract and restrictive covenants.

Marc’s clients represent a diverse cross-section of public and private sectors- including union employees, minimum-wage workers, mid-level managers, executives, family-owned companies, Fortune 500 companies and agencies in the public sector.

Highlights of Marc’s work in employment law include:

• Negotiating six-and-seven-figure settlements for 50+ C-suite executives
• Obtaining more than $9 million in wages for low-wage workers
• Winning cases on behalf of the Department of Children and Family Services
• Helping several hundred employees increase their severance packages
• Convincing EEOC and other administrative agencies to find in his clients’ favor 100+ times
• Serving as arbitrator in wage-and-hour cases, non-compete cases and discrimination cases
• Successfully handling class action litigation on behalf of the City of Chicago and State of Illinois
• Counseling thousands of employees and employers on day-to-day employment issues
• Managing his own employment law firm for 15 years

Out of the 90,000 lawyers in Illinois, Marc has been recognized as a “Top 100” Super Lawyer since 2012.

Marc’s work has been published in the Congressional Record, Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), Philadelphia Inquirer, Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, and Christian Science Monitor. He’s been interviewed as an employment expert for WGN 720, Chicago Public Radio, WBEZ and the Chicago Tribune.

His insight and experience has made Marc a highly sought-after speaker at national conferences, legal associations and universities.
