Marc J. Siegel is a labor and employment attorney, certified mediator, and arbitrator who has the good fortune of both loving his work and being extraordinarily successful at it.

Founder and Managing Partner of Siegel & Dolan, one of Chicago’s premier labor and employment law firms, Marc derives tremendous satisfaction when he can help a client through a difficult career transition, secure a lucrative employment or severance agreement, or guide them through a contentious dispute. He takes great pride when he brings two parties together to craft resolutions to seemingly intractable conflicts. And he is humbled by the trust that his clients and colleagues continue to place in him through referrals, and values the enduring relationships he has with them.

One Of Chicago’s Preeminent Labor and Employment Attorneys

Before establishing his own firm in 2002, Marc spent approximately seven years practicing at a mid-size Chicago management-side boutique labor and employment firm. Since then, he has focused his practice on representing c-suite executives, professionals, and employees in all aspects of their employment relationships.

Marc’s talents and inclinations make him particularly effective at the counseling and negotiating aspects of his practice. His clients reap the benefits of his strategic advocacy and the insightful approaches he takes in high-stakes contract negotiations and settlement discussions. His experience on both sides of the labor and employment table allows him to take a 360-degree view of the negotiation process and facilitates his ability to secure optimal client outcomes in executive compensation matters, employment contracts, severance packages, and other impactful negotiations.

Consistently recognized by his peers for his success, professionalism, and accomplishments, Marc has received consistent and repeated accolades throughout his career. He has been named by Super Lawyers as one of the top 100 lawyers in the State of Illinois in all areas of practice from 2012 – 2019. Leading Lawyer Magazine has honored him as a Leading Lawyer (top 5% of all lawyers) each year since 2012 as well, and Marc was named one of the Law Bulletin’s “40 under 40” (out of more than 1,000 applicants).

Fluent in Spanish, Marc is especially pleased to have successfully represented thousands of Hispanic workers in wage and hour disputes and other employment-related matters.

Prodigious Negotiation and Dispute Resolution Experience and Success

Over the past 25 years, Marc has earned a reputation for his talent and success at resolving disputes and reaching favorable resolutions in even the most contentious discussions. As an advocate as well as a certified mediator and AAA arbitrator, Marc has been a party to countless negotiations and settlement conferences, finding solutions that both achieve client goals and bring closure to costly and disruptive conflicts. He has successfully negotiated hundreds of employment contracts, separation agreements, and better terms and conditions of employment and served as a neutral to resolve an equally robust number of employment-related disputes.

Marc now lends his extensive experience to his fellow attorneys, high-level executives, and others, providing them with the negotiation skills training that can help them become powerful and effective negotiators. A highly sought-after speaker at national conferences, legal associations, and universities, Marc teaches lawyers and emerging industry leaders how to get better results, build stronger relationships, and broker deals through impasses that seem impossible to overcome.

A cum laude graduate of Duke University, Marc earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law.
